Frequently asked questions

Are these 100% Soy Wax Candles?

What is Soy Wax?

Soy wax is a vegetable wax made from the oil of soybeans. After harvesting, the beans are cleaned, cracked, de-hulled, and rolled into flakes. The oil is then extracted from the flakes and hydrogenated. The hydrogenation process converts some of the fatty acids in the oil from unsaturated to saturated. This process dramatically alters the melting point of the oil, making it a solid at room temperature. The leftover bean husks are commonly used as animal feed. The U.S. grows the vast majority of the world's soy beans, primarily in Illinois, Iowa, and Indiana. -CandleScience

Are all Soy Wax Candles the same?

No, not by any stretch of the imagination!!! In order to legally label a candle as a "Soy Candle" in the United States, it need only actually be 51% soy wax. Not only that some of the other soy candles employ metals in their wick, or dyes in their wax, along with parrafin wax to fill that other 49%. All soy wax candles are not the same.

Can the Well from these Candles really be used as Moisterizers?

Yes. Soy wax is a natural moisterizer and the fragrance oils that we scent the candles with are safe for use in lotions. Pure soy wax candles are "soft" and melt at a low temperature. Just blow out the flame first and test out the well with the tip of your finger to make sure that its not too hot for you.
